Known as “The Big Fella” by Craig, our famous Grand Red blend is bursting with flavours of rich red and black berries and notes of black tea, cocoa and spice. It is full-bodied with youthful drying tannins and a long lingering finish. This is definitely a keeper!

How does Winemaker Craig McDonald create Grand Red?
It all starts in the vineyard! Craig intensely manages our estate owned Clark Farm Vineyard to produce low-yielding vines with deep fruit concentration. The best of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon were hand-picked, cold-soaked, fermented and barrel aged separately in 100% French oak for 12 months before the winemaking team expertly blended to perfection! The final assemblage of 45% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Franc and 22% Cabernet Sauvignon was then aged an additional 6 months in French oak to concentrate the flavours and texture before bottling with minimal filtration. This is truly a sum of all its parts.
